Why several rivals are suing the mortgage lender, and why it may not matter
Caliber Home Loans is accusing competitor CrossCountry Mortgage of raiding 80 employees from 18 branches in six states who were responsible for more than $2.3 billion in annual loan originations. The lawsuit, filled last week in the Western District of Washington U.S. District Court, claims that CrossCountry also misappropriated trade secrets and diverted thousands of mortgage loan customers from Caliber.
Caliber claims its rival hired more than 80 of its employees, among them 40 loan producers, beginning in February 2021.
