FIREFIGHTERS have issued a stark warning of the dangers lighting candles at home following a fire in Orford. Crews rushed to an address in Martin Avenue on Boxing Day after a tea light placed on a windowsill set fire to a curtain. Luckily, the flames were spotted by a neighbour walking outside and they quickly alerted the occupants. Firefighters were alerted to the fire after the smoke alarms inside the house failed to activate.
