Bank robbery suspect shown in photos from Burnaby RCMP

VANCOUVER --
Do you recognize this woman?
Police in Burnaby are asking for the public's help to identify a woman they believe was involved in a bank robbery earlier this year.
Officers with the Burnaby RCMP detachment released two images of a woman Tuesday, saying she's wanted in their investigation into a robbery on Feb. 11.
While investigators provided few details Tuesday, a previous news release described what appeared to be the same incident.
Officers said at the time that they'd been called to the Westminster Savings Credit Union shortly before 3:30 p.m.
"During this robbery, a woman threatened bank staff with a gun and demanded money. The woman then fled the bank before police arrival," Mounties said on Feb. 11.

Metro Vancouver gang war spreads: shooting deaths in Nanaimo and Calgary

VANCOUVER --
Metro Vancouver’s bloody gang war, which has claimed more than 20 lives already this year, has spread to other regions with one man dead on Vancouver Island and another killed in Alberta.
RCMP in Nanaimo have linked a Thursday shooting death in that city to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
Over in Alberta, police in Calgary have not yet identified a man shot dead in the city’s southwest on Saturday evening, but CTV News Vancouver has learned he is Gurkeert Kalkat, a member of the Brothers Keepers gang.
His fate is eerily similar to that of his brother Jaskeert Kalkat who was killed in a hail of gunfire in the parking lot of Burnaby’s Market Crossing on May 13.

Gang violence in B.C.: Burnaby Mounties hosting online conversation

BURNABY, B.C. --
Burnaby RCMP are set to hold an online discussion Tuesday morning to hear from local residents and workers impacted by the fatal shooting in a mall parking lot steps from a busy restaurant patio.
The killing of 23-year-old Jaskeert Kalkat, who police say had gang ties, is one of several brazen shootings in the last month in an escalating gang conflict that has seen shots fired outside a toy store, a vape shop, and even outside the terminal at Vancouver International Airport.
Two other people were seriously injured in the shooting at the Market Crossing shopping centre the evening of May 13.

The city has been hit by a rash of incidents linked to gangs in the past few weeks, sparking public safety concerns.
The victim was Jaskeert Kalkat, who was known to police and known to be affiliated with gang activity. IHIT said two other injured people – a man and a woman – who were shot at the same time in the brazen incident were also targeted.
And only a few days before, Toni Dalipi, 19, was fatally shot in Burnaby as he left a business on 6th Avenue. He was shot “multiple times,” and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Fatal shootings in Coquitlam and Calgary connected to Lower Mainland gang war

VANCOUVER --
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the Maillardville neighbourhood of Coquitlam on Saturday afternoon.
Images from the scene in the alley between Henderson and Roderick avenues, near Hart Street, showed police tape blocking off a white SUV.
“Officers arrived to find a man with gunshot wounds, who was pronounced dead at (the) scene,” reads a statement from IHIT’s Sgt. Frank Jang.
Several police vehicles responded to the incident just before 5:30 p.m.
Shortly after their arrival, a yellow tarp was placed on the ground, covering what appeared to be a body. Jang said that police are working to identify the man and notify his family.

Man killed in Lower Mainland's latest public shooting had gang ties, police say

VANCOUVER --
The man killed in Thursday night's brazen shooting at a busy shopping mall in Burnaby, B.C., has been identified as a 23-year-old with gang affiliations.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Jaskeert Kalkat was one of the three people struck by gunfire at the Market Crossing shopping complex. The other two, a man and a woman, survived but suffered what authorities described as severe injuries.
"It's still early in the investigation but we believe all three were targeted in the shooting," Sgt. Frank Jang said Friday.
Kalkat was known to police and investigators believe his gang ties played a role in his murder.

Officers were called to the scene at about 9 a.m. They found a man at the scene with a head injury, believed to be caused by a pipe-like object.
The victim was taken to hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident is not believed to be gang related.
