East Providence City Council to address Metacomet Development Proposal Thursday

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – The East Providence City Council will address the Metacomet Golf Course Proposal on Thursday.
The country club dates back to 1901 and sits on over 100 acres of land along Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence.
According to the East Providence Post, the key to the revised plan would be to maintain a portion of the 138-acre parcel as a full 9-hole golf course. Seven of the outward holes stay in their existing spot, with holes 2 and 8 split in half.
Holes 5 and 9 would be removed.
Marshall Properties would run the course, open to the public. The Post said the East Providence High School golf program would have access to it for free, and residents will be offered discounted fees. ....
