Texas Rangers stop using hypnosis after Dallas Morning News investigation reveals dubious science

The Texas Association for Investigative Hypnosis sold these commemorative medallions to members at its 2019 annual conference in Huntsville. The association is one of the few, if not the only, remaining societies for police employing hypnosis in criminal investigations. In January 2021, less than a year after The Dallas Morning News published a series exposing the dubious science underlying the practice, the Texas Department of Public Safety ended its hypnosis program after forty years.
