Published May 07. 2021 4:02PM In order to preserve the quality of life in Noank, we must restrict and regulate STR’s (less than 30 days), “Short-term rental rules proposed in Noank,” (May 2). Noank is a quiet place to live with a long history of LTR’s and homeownership. Noank is a residential community where everyone knows their neighbors. Homes are close together. Streets are narrow. Noank is now a tourist attraction with 25-50 STR’s and noise, speeding cars, litter and parties at night. To those who claim they cannot pay their taxes without their STR income, I say rent for a month at a time, but not for a weekend or a week. Our homes and lives are upended by those who are on vacation. Vermont is struggling with STR regulations to preserve and protect neighborhoods. The Hamptons want owner-occupied only. Towns on the Cape implemented a town tax on STR’s to cover the added burdens placed on services. Health and safety regulations, fire codes, inspections, in ....
