The companies cited in the Dilworth scaffolding collapse are in more legal trouble.
“We don’t want this to continue to happen,” the victim’s sister said. “We want everybody to be safe when they are building these buildings.”
The family of one of the workers killed in a deadly scaffolding collapse in Dilworth is now suing the companies and contractors involved. José Canaca, Jesús Olivares, and Gilberto Fernández fell 70 feet and died on Jan. 2 at an apartment complex construction site on East Morehead Street. Channel 9′s partners at the Charlotte Observer are reporting that Olivares’ siblings are suing over gross negligence.
