Y Welcomes Jamie Allbach As Child Development Director

YMCA News:
The Family YMCA has hired Jamie Allbach as Child Development Director.
“Jamie has a strong teaching and curriculum background,” CEO Chris Daniels said. “And she is a welcome addition to compliment and lead our staff as we restructure childcare and further develop our after school and summer camp programs to meet the evolving needs of the community.”
Allbach was an elementary school teacher in Asheville, N/C from 2006 to 2013, then served for the next three years as the Media Coordinator and Racial and Equity Team Leader where she led innovative educational opportunities for students, trained educators in equitable practices for students and coordinated trainings for multiple schools and foundations. ....

Obituary: Michelle Andrews


Michelle Renee Andrews passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, following a brief illness.
Michelle was born Feb. 17, 1970 to Parents, Rev. John H. and Janette Black Andrews. Michelle was a graduate Gardendale High School, Birmingham-Southern College, and completed a Masters of Library Science at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
For over fifteen years Michelle worked with the city of Birmingham Public Library, Specializing in government documents. Michelle greatly enjoyed foreign travel through the years and attending many Birmingham Symphony and arts events.
Each year Michelle looked forward to participating in the Alabama Civic Chorale’s Performance of Handel’s Messiah at Bessemer First Methodist and River Chase United Methodist Churches. Michelle lived on the Birmingham-Southern campus on Greensboro Road for many years, and in 2015 moved to Mount Royal Towers. ....
