the watch dog groups citizens against government waste. what are those dirty spots? something about them is endearing but not endearing about lawmakers. we got the numbers for fiscal year 2012 so we brought some of these friends along from the farm. probably better than a lot of things they usually eat. the good news first, pork is down. since the big push to ban ear marks we have seen a big improvement on capitol hill. some good news. earmark spending down 80% from two years ago. that year there were more than 9,000 earmarks which cost $16. billion. the buffet tax would have raised only $4.7 billion a year. the taxpayers that means you are shoveling out $255 million to upgrade these tanks. the pentagon doesn t want the upgrades and the pentagon is upset about the cuts they are facing. if they say they don t need this they probably don t need it. lawmakers from both parties thought otherwise. pork is bipartisan. $48.5 million for the national domestic preparedness conso ....

Kelly, as always, thanks so much. republican congressman paul ryan today ripped into president obama while introducing his own budget plan. take a listen. he proposes to permanently enlarge the size, the reach, and the scope of the federal government. he offers no reforms to save our vital health and retirement security programs and no leadership. congressman joe walsh is a republican from illinois and a member of the committee on oversight and government reform. sir, it s nice to have you on with us this afternoon. i want to take a look with you at what congressman ryan and his proposal is saying. that amid all the cuts to medicare, medicaid and discretionary spending, his plan does not touch defense spending and also does not address social security. however, it does provide for cutting the top income tax rate by nearly a third from 35% to 25%. so how does that math add up in the end, especially when the entire plan appears to assume that the new health care laws are going to b ....
