A candidate filed for a seat on the Killeen City Council May 1 election ballot Wednesday.
Sam Halabi has filed to run for Place 5, currently occupied by Jody Nicholas. Nicholas is term-limited. Place 2, currently occupied by Harker Heights Mayor Pro Tem Michael Blomquist, is up for grabs as well. Blomquist has filed for reelection to the seat, but no other candidates have filed. No area residents filed applications to run in the Killeen City Council race or the Killeen ISD school board race.
