Armed Forces Day ceremony to be held in Burnham-On-Sea today Armed Forces Day will be marked in Burnham-On-Sea today (Saturday, June 26th) with an upbeat ceremony to celebrate the local Armed Forces community. Organised by Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council, the event will start at 11.30am next to the fountain in Old Station Approach when several members of the Town Band will be playing upbeat tunes. Then, at mid-day, Mayor Cllr Mike Facey and his deputies will mark Armed Forces Day with a poem reading and by raising the flag. “This year’s event will be an upbeat show of support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community,” says the Mayor. ....

Mayor opens new-look Burnham-On-Sea cafe ahead of relaunch Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has this weekend opened a cafe in the town centre which has a new look and a new name following a refurbishment. The former Momma’s Cafe at the southern end of Burnham-On-Sea High Street is being relaunched and opens for business on Monday (May 17th) as part of the nationwide easing of restrictions. From Monday, the Government is easing the rules to allow people to socialise indoors in cafes, pubs and restaurants. Burnham and Highbridge Mayor presents four residents with Civic Awards Four residents from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge were honoured for their outstanding service to the local community by being presented with Civic Awards by the town’s Mayor on Sunday (April 18th). A special outdoor ceremony was led by Mayor Cllr Mike Facey in Burnham’s Marine Cove gardens, with just a handful of people present to comply with Covid restrictions.
