Four historic state-owned sites and structures across Virginia are set to receive more than $1 million in federal funding through the Semiquincentennial Grant Program in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

A draft bill would establish the Chesapeake National Recreation Area, a series of several historically significant sites including Fort Monroe, that would be overseen by the National Park Service. People have until March 13 to provide feedback on a proposal.
