some people might just have, you know, might have been receiving wrong information about the vaccine. and so that's what the data tells us. it tells us that young people are really, really concerned about side effects. >> and juanita, the other thing we keep hearing from public health officials is that they know that a person's direct care provider is often their most direct messenger. the problem with a lot of young people, they don't have a direct service provider. they might not have a gp they go to regularly. they may not have health insurance. so juanita, you know, you are a mess messenger. this is the work you do, at a macro level. do you think that the message is resonating and landing, or do you think it is missing the mark? >> alicea, it's clearly missing the mark, based on these trends and the vaccination rates we're seeing among young people. and they need to emphasize here is the efficacy, but also getting to an understanding of responding to why young people are not getting vaccinated.
for a couple of reasons. one is, you know, you tell people, hey, everyone if you've been vaccinated, you can be infected, and you can infect others, and you need to mask up. people who haven't been vaccinated hear this message and say, well, i haven't -- why should i get vaccinated if it's -- i'm still going to get the disease anyway? well, the answer is, that you won't be hospitalized most likely. you won't die, most likely. but they're struggling with that paradox. the second piece is, like almost everything else, unfortunately, in public life today, this has been politicized to a degree that it never should have been. and you have people who are resistant to biden as a m mess messenger, who have fit this into a political paradigm of government versus freedom. and so, when they hear messages
that were made, including how we were going to handle that message. which was -- the message, of course, being the lengths of ti time that the trump tower moscow project stayed and remained alive. >> you can't listen to that and think that he's dropping trump's lawyers, jay sekulow, that it was a big lie. lanny davis, again, this corrects the record. he said cohen himself said in his 2016 testimony about the trump tower moscow timeline. >> as rachel is saying, he is helping republicans. their strategy was shoot the mess messenger. he has no credibility, you shouldn't believe anything.

presidential race. even those who are not in the race. then he had a little diatribe against apple. those responding to him about what he was saying in south carolina. now you have the guy who's ostensibly the leader in this race thus far depending op the polls, jeb bush to respond. but jeb bush is not the leader. there are a couple that show that donald trump is indeed on top nationally among republicans. that doesn't necessarily mean that matters as you go state by state. but it could tell you something about the state of the republican party in this populist pitch that trump has been waging that is gaining some traction. it isn't always the mess messenger but the message. bernie sanders on the left galvanizing these crowds donald trump passion on the right. something's going on here. >> the dem, is will these people who are so excited and show up at rallies and make statements
let me say this. i also want to thank -- the absolutely historic number of republicans who crossed party lines to support me. you were powerful mess messenger our mainstream campaign. thank you. most importantly i want to thank the voters of virginia who went out and voted for us today. from lee county to virginia beach to winchester thank you for what you did to help us get elected the governor of the commonwealth of virginia. this is a hard fought race. part of that is the nature of politics. part unfortunate it was that the attorney general and i had some very big differences on some very important issues.
