A Brighton father was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for charges stemming from his toddler daughter's death from ingesting fentanyl.

Adams County resident Alonzo Montoya was convicted this week of racketeering and child abuse resulting in death for his daughter's 2022 fentanyl overdose.

A Colorado father whose 22-month-old daughter died after ingesting fentanyl in 2022, was found guilty by a jury of child abuse and racketeering-related charges.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of over 80 pounds of fentanyl pills, 66 pounds of methamphetamine, 1.4 kilos of cocaine, 14 grams of heroin, an active methamphetamine lab, five guns and $93,000.
