Hollywood actor and producer Alec Baldwin will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter of cameraman Galina Hutchins, which occurred in October 2021 on the set of Rust. This decision was made by Attorney for the First Judicial District of New Mexico Mary Carmack-Oltvis. Charges must be formally filed by the end of January 2023. If found guilty, the actor may face a prison term.
Filming of the western "Rust", during which the cameraman Galina Hutchins died, will continue. The family of the deceased reached a settlement with the production company and actor Alec Baldwin, who shot the cinematographer. As a result of negotiations, it was decided that the husband of the deceased cameraman, Matthew Hutchins, would act as an executive producer on the tape. The New Mexico Attorney's Office said the settlement does not exempt the participants in the incident from criminal liability if their guilt is proven.
