NJ has joined a multistate lawsuit against the operators of a telemarketing company for allegedly initiating and facilitating billions of illegal robocalls.
Attorneys general from across the U.S. have filed a lawsuit against Avid Telecom, a company accused of making more than 7.5 billion robocalls to people on the national Do Not Call Registry.
The lawsuit alleges the company also reportedly sent or transmitted scam calls about the Social Security Administration, Medicare, and Amazon.
The state joins more than 45 others in the lawsuit.
