Tahoe-area high school reports COVID outbreak FacebookTwitterEmail A Tahoe-area high school reported a coronavirus outbreak with more than 30 active cases. Truckee High School, in eastern Nevada County, reported 32 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Sunday evening, according to the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District coronavirus dashboard. The cases at Truckee High School account for 26% of all active cases in Nevada County. Kelli Twomey, a spokesperson for the school district, said an additional 166 students were in quarantine Monday afternoon. In a letter to parents sent on Friday, school officials said “the majority, if not all of the positive cases, are a result from exposure during non-school related activities outside of the Truckee High School campus or any district facilities.” Twomey said contact-tracing efforts revealed that cases originated during several different off-campus meetings and activities. Assembly Bill 550, which Chiu introduced Tuesday, would require Caltrans to develop guidelines for a pilot program that would use “speed safety programs” or radar systems triggered by speeding vehicles to photograph the car’s license plate to reduce speed-related injuries and deaths. ....
