SAN DIEGO Keith Maddox, one of San Diego’s most powerful labor leaders, announced Wednesday that he will return home to Alabama in April after four years boosting the stability and solidarity of the region’s labor movement. Maddox will resign his position as executive secretary-treasurer of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council, an umbrella organization for 136 local labor unions that consolidates their power, resources and lobbying efforts. His departure coincides with the end of his elected term in the job, which he took over in 2017 during a tumultuous period that included in-fighting among unions and a sexual misconduct scandal involving former leader Mickey Kasparian. ....
