Many paid tribute during a weekend memorial for Tim Hart, a 36-year-old smokejumper from Cody, Wyo., who died following a hard fall while fighting a New Mexico wildfire on May
"He is dearly missed by those who had the good fortune to spend time with him, but he is fondly remembered and will never be far from our thoughts," said Grangeville Smokejumper Base Manager Mike Blinn.
Hart, who was 36, started his smokejumping career in 2016, after being hired on to the Grangeville Smokejumpers in Idaho. Hart's Grangeville supervisor, Mike Blinn, said he was a gritty, strong, funny man who got the job done right.
It was a solemn memorial for wildland firefighter Tim Hart, as Saturday's service in Cody celebrated the spirit that made him "a consummate smokejumper."
