Friday Alabama fishing report From Guntersville, Captain Mike Gerry reports it’s likely the unseasonably cold nights will have chased the bass off the beds for a few days, but they’ll be back in the shallows as soon as we get a sunny, warm afternoon or two. Friday fishing report for Alabama Updated 2:00 AM; At Lake Guntersville, Captain Mike Gerry reports the spring bass bite is on, and should continue despite the chilly nights forecast for the coming week. He said most bass have moved to water less than 10 feet deep, where water temperature is in the high 60′s and low 70′s in the afternoons, and many fish are spawning or have spawned. Friday fishing report for Alabama Updated Apr 02, 2021; Lewis Smith Lake won’t be the place to fish for the next week or so, but you still may want to visit the spillway area to see something that rarely occurs—if the water rises as expected, it may pour out the overflow canyon on the west side of the dam for the first time in many years. Overflow starts at 522.0 feet elevation, and the forecast was for 521.7 feet Thursday night. If this happens, the water from the lake takes a long, circular route to the west before dumping back into the river well downstream of the dam.
