Jerusalem, Undefined: Israel said the United States on Thursday approved the 'landmark' sale of the Arrow 3 hypersonic missile defense system to Germany in the country's biggest military deal, worth $3.5 billion.

The Arrow 3 long-range system developed by Israeli industry in collaboration with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing. It is designed to intercept craft above the atmosphere with a range of up to 2,400 km, a feat that until then had been the preserve of the France. Germany wants to acquire a new air defense system as part of its rearmament decided after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The final contract should be signed by the end of 2023 after its approval by the German and Israeli parliaments.

In attacks carried out over several days in revenge for the killing of four Israeli settlers by Hamas gunmen, armed mobs marauded through villages, torching homes and cars, cutting power lines and firing weapons.
