I don't have any problem with David Ortiz's first ballot election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame last week, and will save my comments on the hypocrisy of the baseball writers (who shouldn't be voting in these elections anyway) forming moral posses to prevent guys they don't like (Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds) from being enshrined in the museum. But I do want to say something about some of the silliest things I hear and read.
The Cheated Generation finally got handed the check Tuesday. Their heroes, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, were passed over by baseball writers for the National Baseball Hall of Fame for the 10th and final time -- and it was like that moment when the mark realizes he's just been scammed: Pain. Anger. Lingering disbelief and delusion.
