No. 19/15 Clemson falls to No.1 Syracuse

CLEMSON S.C. – The No. 19/15 Clemson Tigers (10-5, 2-5 ACC) lost to the No. 1 Syracuse Orange (14-0, 7-0 ACC), 19-10, on Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y. Hanna Hilcoff, Gianna New, Chloe Willard, and Miya Scanlan led all scorers with two goals each as six different Tigers recorded goals.  The graduate transfer, Willard, opened up scoring by putting the Tigers on the board first, thanks to an assist from Belle Martire. The Orange fired back with a goal of their own just two minutes later to even the score. After a 3-0 Syracuse run, Marina Miller found the back of the net as Martire recorded her second assist of the day and 10th assist of the season.  Hilcoff opened up scoring in the second quarter for Clemson off a fast-break goal assisted by Bella Karstien to cut into Syracuse’s lead. In the final seconds of the second quarter, Hilcoff converted a free-position shot to close out scoring for the half as the Orange took a 9-4 lead entering the second half.  During the first five minutes of the third quarter, New recorded her 42nd goal of the season as the Tigers continued to chip away at the Orange’s lead. Willard then etched her second goal of the day as Clemson was a man up to bring the Tigers within three. New scored her second goal of the game with under two minutes left in the third quarter as she found the back of the cage from a free-position shot.  In the final quarter of the game, Jayln Jimmerson scored her first of the day from an assist by New. Within the final three minutes of the second half, Miya Scanlan scored back-to-back goals within thirty seconds. Goalie Emily Lamparter faced 40 shots this afternoon as she only allowed 19 and saved nine.  Up Next, the Tigers will travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face the Hokies in its final road game. No. 22 Clemson Takes Down Louisville 19-8 in Pink Game & Senior Day CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson Lacrosse scored nine straight goals during a nearly ten minute span around halftime to break the game open in a 19-8 win over Louisville on Saturday at Historic Riggs Field. Graduate Gianna New and senior Hanna Hilcoff each scored their 40th goals of the season as the Tigers (10-4, 2-4 ACC) defeated the Cardinals (4-8, 1-5 ACC) handily in their first meeting.  Clemson held its pink game in honor of Head Coach Allison Kwolek, who announced her battle with breast cancer earlier this season and was in her second game back on the sideline. Following the game, the team honored its first graduating class, which includes nine fifth-years: Marina Miller, Mallory Martel, Starr Howars, Emma Johnson, Chloe Willard, Maddy Moloney, Gianna New, Jalyn Jimerson and Belle Martire.  In all, six Tigers scored multiple goals, including Hilcoff (4), Jimerson (3), New (2), Maloney (2), Miya Scanlan (2), and Sofia Chepenik (2). Martire, Miller, Chloe Willard and Emma Tilson also scored. Chepenik hit the 30-goal mark in her freshman season, and ranked first in the ACC and fourth in the nation in scoring among freshmen entering the contest.

Clemson Defeats Longwood 21-3

Box Score Farmville, Va. — The Clemson Tigers Lacrosse team (5-2) handles business in Farmville, Va., defeating the Longwood Lancers 21-3 on Sunday, March 5.  Clemson got off to a quick start and scored eight goals in the first quarter. Emma Tilson started the scoring off for the Tigers, continuing her streak of scoring at least once in every game this season. Gianna New and Hanna Hilcoff made their presence known, leading Clemson in scoring with five and four goals respectively. Five other Tigers would put the ball in the back of the net during the game, including Sofia Chepenik, Belle Martire, Marina Miller, Miya Scanlan and Jalyn Jimerson Emily Lamparter forced a shutout in the first quarter, as the Tiger’s were up 8-0. Hilcoff continued Clemson’s momentum and scored the first goal of the second quarter. Longwood would score two the second quarter and one in the third, but Clemson held them scoreless in the fourth.  The Tigers outshot the Lancers 44-10 and won 22 out of the 28 draws. In addition, Clemson had their best yet performance clearing the ball, clearing all 17 of their clears successfully. Meanwhile Clemson’s ride forced five unsuccessful clears from Longwood.  Up next Clemson will return home for a five game home stretch.
