Gameday Central: No. 7 Clemson Returns to ACC Tournament Quarterfinals for Rematch against No. 2 Notre Dame

No. 7 Clemson Returns to ACC Tournament Quarterfinals for Rematch against No. 2 Notre Dame 📍Charlotte, N.C. (American Legion Memorial Stadium) 🗓 Wednesday, April 24, 2024 • 5:00 p.m. 📱 Twitter • Instagram • Facebook Game Preview CLEMSON, S.C. – After securing their first win in the ACC Tournament in program history with a 18-15 win over the No. 10 seeded Pittsburgh Panthers, the No. 7 seeded Clemson Tigers (11-6, 4-6) return to American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. for a rematch against the No. 2 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, April 24 at 5:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ACCN and live stats will be available here. Clemson and Notre Dame have a history of playing in tight games. In their first matchup in 2023, Clemson led 6-4 at halftime but ultimately fell 9-12 in South Bend, Ind. Most recently, the Tigers took the Fighting Irish to double overtime when they played at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex on a rainy night on Friday, March 22. In their earlier game this year, Freshman Kayla Macleod led Clemson in scoring with five goals. On the defensive end, goalie Emily Lamparter played lights out with two critical saves at the end of the game to keep the Tigers alive. However, Notre Dame was able to find the net first in double overtime, giving them the 13-14 win.  While Clemson already has one win under their belt in the 2024 ACC Tournament, Wednesday’s game will be the first game Notre Dame will play in the tournament as they received a bye in the first round. The draw control team and freshmen on offense led the Tigers to their 18-15 victory over Pitt in their first ever ACC Tournament home game on Sunday, April 21. Ella Little and the rest of the draw unit won 76% of the draws which gave the Tigers plenty of opportunities to score. On offense, Freshman Regan Byrne led in goals with five and Freshman Natalie Shurtleff scored her second straight hat trick. Boston College Transfer Summer Agostino also impressed as she had a career record game with three assists and two goals.  A win Wednesday would be Clemson’s first win in the quarterfinals round of the ACC Tournament and the highest ranked win in program history. The victory would propel Clemson to the final four on Friday, April 26 where they would face the winner of the Boston College vs. Duke game.  For complete coverage of the Clemson Lacrosse team, follow @ClemsonWLax on Instagram and Twitter and @ClemsonWLacrosse on Facebook.
