New funding and incentives folded into the just-passed, $1.2 trillion federal infrastructure bill and President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better legislation — still battling its way through Congress — could ignite a revolution in electric vehicle adoption in the U.S., according to local EV charger manufacturers who’ve had a front-row seat to seismic shifts in the industry over the last year.

Student electricians under the direction of Mike Siefker, department head at Eli Whitney Technical High school, are installing the charging station, according to a New Haven Register report. Control Module Inc. a manufacturer, donated the 240-volt charger under a pilot program sponsored by the Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition Inc. The charging station is a cooperative project of the West Haven Department of Public Works and the Hamden electrician training program.
