Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Two vehicles towed, hospital visit after Peterborough crash Thursday

A Thursday afternoon crash in Peterborough sent one man to Monadnock Community Hospital for examination. Police responded to the intersection of Elm Street, Main Street, and Union Street after a call at 3:14 p.m., after a 2014 Jeep Cherokee operated by Tiffany Truglia, 30, collided with a 2018 Toyota Rav4 driven by Paul Wardlaw, 61, of Dublin.
Wardlaw’s vehicle was stopped at the intersection after traveling up from Elm Street and Truglia’s vehicle was preparing to turn left onto Elm Street from Main Street when Truglia’s phone fell off her lap and she looked down, intending to retrieve it, Police Chief Scott Guinard said. Her vehicle collided with Wardlaw’s, and both vehicles sustained damage to their left front sides and had to be towed from the scene, he said. The accident was due to driver inattention on the part of Truglia, Guinard said. Although no injuries were reported initially, Wardlaw late ....

The third week in April holds a special meaning for Toni Gildone, Monadnock Community Hospital’s volunteer coordinator. It’s the one week a year where volunteers are nationally recognized for their efforts – even though Gildone will sing the praises of the 130 people who devote a portion of their week to the hospital any day of the year.
Typically, Gildone would make it a point to see each and every volunteer at some point during National Volunteer Week to personally thank them. But for the second year in a row that just wasn’t possible. When MCH instituted its COVID response plan last March, that meant volunteers were no longer able to work in the Window Shop, deliver mail or staff the reception desk. They had to stay home and Gildone personally called each one of them. ....

What Dr. Michael Lindberg will miss the most about his role as chief medical officer at Monadnock Community Hospital is the daily interactions with the staff and making a difference in the lives of patients.
Lindberg, who has filled the position for the last five-plus years, is set to officially retire once a replacement is identified.
Lindberg was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease two years ago and it has taken a toll physically and was one of the main reasons he decided it was time to put his medical career behind him.
“It catches up with you after a while,” Lindberg said. Cognitively, Lindberg said, there are no issues. But his endurance isn’t what it used to be, his voice is a bit more husky and there are some bouts with shaking and tremors. He also deals with a loss of smell. ....
