Covid, as we deal with Climate Change as we deal with a number of other challenges we need to keep in mind that the need to wear your mask to socially distance and to even be just reminding ourselves and being a little more diligent throughout this process is necessary. Because we are also focusing on making sure that as we as we reopen we dont turn back the clock. You all know what happened a few months ago when one day, i announced we were going to be opening a number of places and today, some of those places are open, and some of those places are not open. But we do have some good news hair salons and nail salons and other places from my perspective that cannot open outdoors are able to operate indoors. I know those businesses are going to be working hard to stay open. Theyre going to follow the guidelines and we need your cooperation too in not only supporting the businesses and following the guidelines in those businesses but ....
Meeting of the San FranciscoPolice Commission. As some of you may be aware, we lost quorum at the last Police Commission meeting due to technical difficulties beyond our control. So at that time, we had completed the chiefs report, the d. P. A. Directors report, and line item 1 before we had to adjourn. Were going to pick up tonight where we left off, so its going to be the president ial report, commission report, and Public Comment. We want to make sure the public has an opportunity to comment on items from the august 19 agenda. So thats how were going to proceed, and then after that, we will continue the remaining items on the september 2 and tonights meeting, and once thats done, we will adjourn that meeting and begin september 2. The recommendations written in 2009 about how they are thinking about that. Obviously, we need to reconsider that. I totally understand the board of supervisors position. This is the wrong time for fare increases. We should be using every other tool before we get there. I get why s. F. M. T. A. Was between a rock and hard place. Lets remove that and make that not a problem any more. Lets revise how we think about fare increases. I get where that rationale may have been attractive 10 years ago. It doesnt make sense now. Lets move forward to figure out how to stabilize m. T. A. Without doing that on the backs of our most vulnerable riders. A couple months ago you werent clear. Now you will not increase fares during the recovery or pandemic . I would like to look at weighs to avoid doing that in the future. I dont want to increase them now or going forward. Before we begin with this item on maf o behalf of my fellow commissioners we approved to help equity resolution declari declaringit was based by the Human Rights Commission during their june 25th meeting. Ours had the addition of some resolved statements that were tailored to health and programs.
