For Do Savannah
On an overcast Tuesday morning, the staff of Wormsloe Historic Site welcomed their newest teammate, Kim, a five-year-old Sheppard mix. Kim, on loan from the Humane Society as part of “Dogs with Jobs,” will work for the day as a Bark Ranger.
Her task? To get adopted.
The Humane Society for Greater Savannah launched a new adoption program “Bark Rangers, which happens every other Tuesday at Wormsloe Historic Site. The next Bark Ranger reports for duty on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
“You can’t get a much better partnership,” said Wormsloe site manager, Gretchen Greminger. “The dog gets to spend a day in the woods, and we get to hang out with a fun, four-legged friend. The dog socializes outside of the kennel and gets to release some pent up energy.”

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -Getting a pet for the holidays isnât uncommon, so the Humane Society of Greater Savannah wants to remind people what to do if the pet may not be warming up to its new home.
The staff at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah say theyâre well-trained to handle animal returns or surrenders. The staff says bringing an animal here is a safe way to give the animal another chance to find a forever home.
