Poor air quality and Air Stagnation Alerts are numerous for western Montana counties right now, and are expected to continue through most of Wednesday. How bad is the air quality in some of the areas of concern?
Montana counties across the entire state are getting hammered with snow, wind and bitterly cold temperatures. Missoula, Bozeman, Helena, Great Falls, Billings and everywhere in between has it's own issues, with up to 15 inches of fresh snow falling by Thursday evening.
Very dry conditions, gusty winds up to 40 MPH, and the chance of lightning storms have created dangerous fire conditions across all of western Montana on Friday. Any wildfires that start today will be difficult to contain, so Red Flag Warnings have been issued across the western counties.
Keep vigilant this afternoon as storm cells move into the area again with over an inch of rain possible in some locations of southwest Montana including Gallatin County. Hail and gusty winds are expected along with these storms.
With more heavy rains expected from Bozeman to Forsyth, city drainages along with rural creeks and streams are in danger of flooding through at least Friday night. Keep a keen eye on storm drains within city limits, as flooding/deep pooling can happen quickly.

Flooding due to snowmelt is nothing new in the spring, but flooding in very rural areas is extra dangerous. Damaging winds are forecasted for several Montana counties east of Glacier National Park with gusts up to 70 MPH. Travel could be impacted especially for taller vehicles, big trucks, and any towing units. Wide open roads may have debris flying across the road at times.
