DAN GREEN IS OFF TONIGHT. WE ARE BEGINNING TONIGHT WORKING TO CLEAR UP SOME CONFUSION SURROUNDING MONTEREY COUNTY'S COVID-19 VACCINATION PROCESS. IT APPEARS THE LINK TO SIGN UP FOR VACCINATIONS HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. WITH MORE ON HOW THIS HAPPENED, WE TURN TO ACTION NEWS EIGHT REPORTER KYLA LINVILLE WHO IS LIVE IN MONTEREY. ERIN, IT TURNS OUT THAT SOME HEALTHCARE WORKERS HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN SHARING THE SIGN UP LINK WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, WHICH IS NOT ALLOWED. RIGHT NOW, THE PRIORITY IS TO VACCINATE ALL OF OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS FIRST. IT'S NO QUESTIONS THAT MANY PEOPLE ACROSS THE CENTRAL COAST ARE ANXIOUS TO GET THE COVID-19 VACCINE. BUT THE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF THE MONTEREY PENINSULA SAYS JUMPING IN LINE IS NOT ALLOWED....AFTER LEARNING SOME HEALTHCARE WORKERS WERE SHARING THE SIGN-UP LINK WITH THEIR LOVED ONES. ON TUESDAY, THE HOSPITAL PROVIDED THIS STATEMENT: Unfortunately....links to make appointments have been shared widely in the community with people who don't qualify at this time. If you made an appointment and are not a healthcare worker, Monterey County is directing you to cancel your appointment and wait for your tier and your turn. WHILE THE MONTEREY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE ARE NO LEGAL REPERCUSSIONS THAT WILL COME FROM THIS, THEY ARE ADVISING WORKERS TO STOP SHARING THE LINK.....AND ASKING ANYONE WHO IS NOT A HEALTHCARE WORKER TO REMAIN PATIENT. Moreno 0:30:18 "We're making progress through phase 1 a and we are hoping that when we make significant progress through 1 a, even though we haven't completely vaccinated everyone, and vaccine becomes more readily available, we will be moving into phase 1 b in Monterey county." THE PHASE 1A TIER FOCUSES ON HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN ACUTE CARE AND CORRECTIONAL FACILITY HOSPITALS... SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES, ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES... PARAMEDICS, EMTs AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PERSONNEL. AND WITH SEVERAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, THE DEPARTMENT IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO understand THE NUMBER OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS THEY HAVE TO VACCINATE FIRST. Karen Smith, Public Information Officer Monterey County Health Department 0:08:44 "We have a lot of specialists; we have three big hospitals. So, you think about that, that's a lot of health care providers to get vaccinated. It also includes mental health providers, labs, we're now vaccinating dentists. It's a lot." AGAIN, RIGHT NOW THE GOAL IS TO VACCINATE ALL OF OUR FRONTLINE WORKERS FIRST. HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE IS UNCLEAR. AND HAPPENING THURSDAY, THE COUNTY IS HOLDING A TOWNHALL VIA ZOOM TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VACCINE ROLLOUT. YOU CAN FIND MO
