In a campaign season that cast a spotlight on Rutland’s rising crime, lack of housing and population decline, Doenges unseated three-term mayor David Allaire on Tuesday, according to unofficial city election results.
“We're all facing the same challenges of utility systems — which have been installed for many years — parts of them reaching end of life, and pipes needing replacement,” said Lee Krohn, town manager in Shelburne
Voters will consider three bonds, which officials say will finance a significant investment in city infrastructure.
