SEATTLE — With a new owner planning significant renovations, Orcas Island’s historic Rosario Resort and Spa will temporarily close to overnight guests starting next week.
The Rosario Resort & Spa at the historic Moran Mansion on Orcas Island will be sold to new ownership, the resort announced on its website.
Rosario Resort and Spa in Eastsound, Orcas Island is closed Feb. 20 to March 31. Lodging will reopen April 1, but Moran Mansion will remain closed for renovations.

“I suppose a new owner could make an effort to rezone the property as residential, but they could only preserve what is here,” said Christopher Peacock, the resort’s general manager.
