April 30th, 2021 Press Release Melbourne, April 30: Australia’s snowsport community gathered at the Snow Australia Awards in Melbourne last night to celebrate the remarkable performances produced by Australian athletes and coaches over the last 12 months. The outstanding success achieved by Australian athletes on the World Cup circuit and at the World Championships meant it was extremely difficult to single out an individual performance. World Championship gold medalist and back-to-back FIS Aerials Crystal Globe winner Laura Peel won the coveted Athlete of the Year awards (Olympic disciplines) alongside Snowboard Cross Team event World Champions Belle Brockhoff and Jarryd Hughes. The three edged other finalists Matt Graham, Tess Coady and Scotty James for the award. ....

Mountainwatch | Press Release Fieberbrunn, Austria – March 13, 2021: Athletes held nothing back in Fieberbrunn in what was their last chance to secure their names on the roster for the Xtreme Verbier and next year’s FWT22. However, this didn’t seem to distract the riders, who showed nerves of steel negotiating the iconic Wildseeloder. Snow conditions were challenging at best, with low snow levels even threatening the event. But fresh snow though the week provided organisers enough to work with, enabling them to give the green light on competition today. Here’s what went down in Fieberbrunn, Austria:

March 4th, 2021 Mountainwatch | Press Release Crunch Time for FWT athletes as competition heads to Fieberbrunn, Austria. With Saturday 6th – Tuesday 9th being ruled out as possible competition days, the new weather window has been extended to March 10th – March 17th. The organisers are waiting for a fresh snowfall to roll in over the Wildseeloder to run the third event.

Mountainwatch | Press Release Thursday February 25: The Ski Area Association of New Zealand (SAANZ) is encouraging New Zealanders to consider taking their OE (overseas experience) in a mountain town this winter, working for one of the country’s 27 ski areas. With the 2021 ski season fast approaching, the industry estimates they will be short by some 1200 seasonal workers, so are calling on Kiwis to fill the gap. Historically the industry’s workforce has been 50% New Zealanders and 50% internationals. In the 2020 season, border closures prevented many businesses from obtaining key staff resulting in ski areas being under-staffed and unable to open all parts of their business, while some smaller club fields were unable to open at all. ....
