Convicted of blasphemy, that s an unusual move. the judiciary said the two were hanged after confessing to desecrating the quran and insulting the prophet muhammad in 2021. rights groups say they were convicted in what they call sham trials . this comes as campaign groups say executions in iran rose by 75% last year. with at least 582 people put to death. ethnic minorities also make up a large proportion of these executions in iran. of those exectued, 30% were part of baluch minorities, even though they only represent 2 6% of the population. i spoke to monireh shirani, from the baluchistan human rights group. this is very dark. it s devastating. and we see that the regime is not backing down. it s using these methods of fast executions, fast trials, no representation. family members of those ....
