EUGENE, Ore. Eugene’s police chief and the attorney representing Muhsin Sharif are speaking out after Lane County’s district attorney ruled the officer-involved shooting lawful.
Sharif was shot twice by two officers on Nov. 30 after police responded to reports of domestic violence. Police say when restraining orders are violated, an arrest must be made.

Lane County DA Says Nov. 30 Use of Deadly Force Was 'Lawful Response' – Eugene Weekly

On Nov. 30, a Eugene Police Department officer shot Muhsin Sharif, a person of color, while responding to a domestic violence call.  On Dec. 15, the Lane County Deputy District Attorney’s office issued a press release on the investigation on the use of deadly force calling it a “lawful response.” The release says Sharif had violated a restraining order and allegedly committed assault and strangulation. 
On Dec. 16, Sharif’s lawyer, Brian Michaels, emailed his response, saying it was an attempt to “trash the victim of an unnecessary use of fatal force in order to contaminate the community and the future jury pool is a bit over the top.” He says the DA’s office did not send him a copy of the press release. ....

EUGENE, Ore. The shooting of a man following a domestic violence incident has been ruled lawful by Lane County District Attorney Patty Perlow.
Muhsin Sharif, 26, was shot and critically injured by Eugene Police on Nov. 30. Officers had reason to believe Sharif had violated a restraining order, which means an arrest must be made.
Perlow said officers found Sharif running in an alley with a knife and he reportedly yelled, “I will kill you,” repeatedly. ....

An update on the November 30, 2020 shooting of Muhsan Sharif by EPD officers. KLCC s Brian Bull reports on the Lane County DA s determination on use of force against Sharif.
On the morning of November 30th, a woman texted a deputy district attorney: “He beat me up. He’s here.” The man in question was Muhsin Sharif, who reportedly violated a restraining order, allegedly choked her in front of a child, then fled the victim’s home with a knife.  She told officers that Sharif talked of “fighting the police” and possibly killing himself if police were involved.
Bodycam footage shows police pursuing Sharif into an alley near the Oakshire Brewery. After repeat orders to drop the knife, Sharif advanced on an officer inside a vehicle. Both the officer and another policeman fired eight rounds, hitting Sharif twice: once in the chest and once in the hip, causing him to fall. Officers told Sharif again to drop the knife, eventually tasering him and calling medic ....
