Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a cheque of Rs 49,000 should be made available to the bride and groom in the mandap on the day the marriage takes place under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana.
Under no circumstances should there be any delay in providing funds to the newlyweds.
The pregnancy tests were allegedly carried out on would-be brides at a mass-marriage event organised by the MP BJP government in Dindori district of MP on 22 April.

Defending the administration, Dindori Collector Vikas Mishra said that directives were issued during the mass marriage event for detection of sickle cell ailment among those taking part.
