Muskegon Heights schools excited for future after debt relief

A total of $114 million in debt relief is coming to five Michigan school districts after legislation signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer this week. One of the school systems that will have debt relieved is Muskegon Heights.

The Muskegon Heights Public School Academy’s elected board cannot legally run its schools because of the amount of debt accrued by the district years ago. A charter system must be hired.
