PETALING JAYA: Youths will be included in the government policy planning process as a group of them will be selected to channel the voices of their peers from the grassroots to the Prime Minister, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In his National Youth Day address, Muhyiddin said the youths would be part of an advisory group whose opinions and views would help in shaping government policy.
“This suggestion came from the Malaysian Youth Council, which I believe is a good initiative to ensure the grassroots voices will be heard, ” he said in his speech which was aired live on television and social media platforms yesterday.

National Youth Day 2021 is observed on January 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. It is also known as Yuva Diwas. Swami Vivekananda s speech at the World Religion Conference in Chicago in 1893 is still considered as the most effective speech given by any Indian. Swami Vivekananda mentioned communalism, religious bigotry, and violence in his address. He said that if these evils had not happened, the world would have been a better place than today.
They see such examples in their own families. So they have neither respect nor fear of law, he said, asking youngsters to join politics as this is necessary to save it.
Though he did not name any party, he has in the past often hit out at Opposition parties, including the Congress, for being run by families.
He said, It is true that (in politics) the fortunes of those who have been winning elections on the basis of surnames are dwindling. But in politics, this disease of dynastic politics is not completely finished.
They, he said in reference to these dynasties, are also a very big reason behind political and social corruption in the country.
