Visakhapatnam, Feb 26 (UNI) Commodore M Goverdhan Raju, NM took over as Naval Officer-in-Charge for Andhra Pradesh from Commodore Sanjiv Issar at an impressive ceremonial parade held in the Naval Base here on Friday.
Cmde Raju, who is an alumnus of Sainik School ( Korukonka) and National Defence Academy (Khadakvasla), was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Jul 1, 1989 and is a specialist in Navigation and Direction, a Defence release said here.
He held a spectrum of highly challenging operational, staff and training appointments - the commissioning crew of INS Sagardhwani, specialist and executive officer appointments on frontline warships, Joint Director Staff Requirements at Naval Headquarters, Director (Training & Policy) at HQ Integrated Defence Staff, Principal Director (Training) at the premier training establishment, Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala) and Director, Maritime Warfare Centre (Vizag). ....

ISLAMABAD: Addressing the Pakistan Navy’s Operational Commands Seminar held at the Bahria Auditorium Karachi, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has emphasized the importance of maintaining highest level of combat readiness.
The Naval Chief expressed resolve to constantly align employment and development strategies with evolving threats to deliver a resolute and strong response to any misadventure by the adversary.
The Admiral reiterated determination of Pakistan Navy to ensure seaward defence and safeguard national maritime interests of the motherland at all costs. United Nations, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) UN experts asked the United States to address the human rights violations that are still being reported at the illegal Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, including torture and other mistreatment.
Through a statement, independent UN rapporteurs indicated that Washington-promoted review on how to shut down such a military prison must also address violations that have been committed there.
According to independent rapporteurs, it is urgent to offer adequate redress for all those detained in that prison who were denied their fundamental human rights, according to international law, including the right to a fair trial, in addition to having been tortured. ....

Aman-2021 was implemented Feb. 11 - 16 in Karachi, Pakistan and the Indian Ocean, the ministry further stated.
Turkey, US, UK, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, and Sri Lanka enrolled with the drill.
