In a stride towards bolstering India's indigenous naval aviation capabilities, the Aeronautical Development Agency has successfully completed the maiden flight of LCA Navy trainer prototype aircraft NP5.
The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Naval Trainer Prototype 'NP5' has completed its maiden flight successfully, according to Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). The prototype NP5 will soon be used for field and carrier operations on both INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant. LCA Navy Prototypes are carrier compatible and can operate with Air-to-Air weapons for combat missions.
The aircraft demonstrated 18 arrested landings and Ski Jump take offs from INS Vikramaditya in Jan 2020, including hot refuelling capability,” a release from DRDO said.
