Visiting the NC DMV? You'll now have to confirm your scheduled appointment

“Folks are used to having to confirm their medical and other appointments in this way,” said Commissioner Goodwin, “so we’re applying this standard from the private sector to our business model and expecting good results and increased appointment availability.”

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles announced Tuesday that the agency will resume Saturday service at certain offices, and expand weekday services at more than two dozen locations.
Starting May 15, walk-in customers will be accepted at 16 statewide locations from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
The Wilmington South office, located at 2390 Carolina Beach Road, is among those 16 locations and will focus on road testing to help reduce the backlog of teenage drivers needing a road test to gain their Level 3 full provisional license.

Group sues N.C. over end to Confederate license plate – North Carolina Lawyers Weekly

Group sues N.C. over end to Confederate license plate
RALEIGH (AP) — The North Carolina chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans has filed a lawsuit against the state over its decision to stop issuing license plates bearing the Confederate battle flag.
Kevin Stone, state commander for the group, said the state Division of Motor Vehicles never discussed the move with him or the group’s attorneys, despite numerous inquiries about why no new Sons of Confederate Veterans plates had been sent out for months, WRAL reported Monday.
Stone alleges that North Carolina “acted in bad faith” and has always been hostile to group members. He also said the Confederate flag is the organization’s symbol, and the group shouldn’t have to abandon it on its license plates.

NCDMV hosts drive through job fair in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A line of cars spilled onto Independence Drive in Rocky Mount on Tuesday hoping to land a new job.
"I was here probably around 8:30. So I waited a long time. But it was worth it," said Benita Jones, of Rocky Mount.
A total of 350 people signed up to participate in the North Carolina DMV drive through job fair, and 350 others secured a spot on the waitlist. All of them looking for new opportunities in a pandemic-safe way.
"We didn't want to do it virtually. We wanted it to be a little more personal touch. So the drive through was our next option as far as what we thought would work well for us," NCDOT Deputy HR Director Amanda Olive said.

Ask SAM: Get both your COVID vaccinations from the same manufacturer, same provider

Q: I had my first COVID-19 vaccine shot recently. It was the Moderna vaccine brand. I'm trying to schedule my second dose vaccine through Novant Health's MyChart app. MyChart wants to schedule the Pfizer vaccine for the second dose and not the Moderna. I want to make sure that I will get the Moderna vaccine when I go for my scheduled appointment.
— D.B.
Answer: A Novant spokesperson said, “It does not sound like they had it at Novant Health. While Novant Health does offer both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine based on supply, each patient must be vaccinated with the same product for their second dose. Patients who schedule their first COVID-19 vaccine appointment through MyChart will be scheduled for their second dose with the same vaccine. If this person did receive the vaccine from somewhere else, we would encourage them to get their second dose at that same location.”
