The late Ned Whelan will be remembered fondly as “kind, generous, funny, and a real character.
Tributes have poured in following the passing of a renowned former Dungarvan businessman, Ned Whelan of Whelan’s Newsagents.
They were dancing at the crossroads in The Curracloe Hotel last weekend as the people of Blackwater and beyond came together for a fundraiser which will not only help St Brigid’s GAA get a new pitch but also provided memories which will last a lifetime. Whether some people would rather forget what they saw during ‘Blackwater gets lippy’ remains up for debate, but what can’t be disputed is the almost €13,500 raised towards the development of a new pitch at the club.
