KATHMANDU, Oct 31: In the parliamentary discussion on the Non-Government Bill on National Dignity, which aims to revise the hierarchy of the Chief Justice, the Legislation Committee of the National Assembly opted to retain the previous arrangement for the Chief Justice's ranking. The committee rejected the proposal to place the Chief Justice lower in the hierarchy than the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Speaker of the National Assembly.

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA), an umbrella organization of legal professionals across the country, has objected to the amendment of the Justice Council Rules and the reordering of the seniority of judges. The Nepal Bar has also warned that the rules of the council have been amended in favor of some people and urged the Council to rectify these changes immediately.

KATHMANDU, June 17: After a long wait, Hari Krishna Karki formally assumed the responsibility of Chief Justice on Friday. President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Karki as the Chief Justice on Friday in accordance with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution. Chief Justice Karki, upon his appointment, took the oath of office and secrecy from President Paudel during a special ceremony held in the evening at Sheetal Niwas, the official residence of the President. After taking the oath, he immediately assumed office as the 30th Chief Justice at the Supreme Court.
