Brüssel (dpa) - Keine neuen Benzin- und Dieselautos mehr, eine Steuer auf Flug- und Schiffstreibstoffe und höhere Kosten für das Heizen mit Kohle, Erdgas oder Öl: Die EU-Kommission will mit einem umfassenden Plan das Erreichen der europäischen Klimaschutzziele sicherstellen.
Im Kern sieht der Vorschlag vor, den Verbrauch von fossilen Energieträgern weiter zu verteuern, um den Umstieg auf klimafreundliche Technologien zu beschleunigen. Der Autoindustrie sollen zudem noch einmal strengere Kohlendioxid-Grenzwerte auferlegt werden - spätestens 2035 sollen dann in der EU nur noch emissionsfreie Autos neu zugelassen werden.
