Gun violence is an issue that’s been circulating in the media and in the lives of many individuals recently in the United States. In Colorado, ten people were killed in a mass shooting at a King Soopers in Boulder March 22.
The gun violence archive lists 143 cases of gun violence in 2021. These cases vary in impact, from injuries or death in individuals or multiple individuals.
Police officers have the ability to use their guns in extreme scenarios. Lately there has been public outrage in reaction to misconduct and misuse of weapons and force by police officers in the United States.

Bishop-Lehr Hall's History: More Than Meets the Eye • UNC Mirror

Those who have seen the building up close can attest to the unsightly state it is in. There aren’t any classes held there, nor is there a reason for most students to enter. Because of this, most students have never been inside Bishop-Lehr Hall. 
Some students have even come up with their own stories about the building. These rumors have spread all throughout campus. Even Kirk Leichliter, assistant vice president of facilities management, has heard them.
“There’s an urban legend that it is full of asbestos,” Leichliter said. “It’s not.”

UNC Ensembles Cope With COVID • UNC Mirror

Fourth year percussion major Bryce Baturevich can make music out of almost anything. While he’s played drums, cymbals and chimes, Baturveich’s first love is the marimba, but he’s also played bells, wine bottles, flowerpots and other out of the box instruments.
“That’s the beauty of percussion, though. Anything can become an instrument if you really try,” Batruevich said.
Baturevich helps his passion blossom in the University of Northern Colorado’s percussion ensemble. It’s a small group of equally enthusiastic rhythm nerds who play various compositions under the direction of UNC professor Julie Strom in concerts throughout the year. But in March of 2020, just as Batruevich was preparing his important junior capstone recital, the pandemic closed the world. The practice rooms and instrument closets vital to Batruevich’s future success didn’t escape those closures.

The Mason City girls basketball came extremely close again to pulling off a stunning victory over a ranked opponent on Tuesday night.
After going scoreless in the first quarter against Waverly-Shell Rock, the Mohawks outscored the Go-Hawks, 45-37, over the final three frames. 
Mason City scored 20 points in the fourth but couldn't quite close the gap, as the Mohawks fell to 0-8 with a 49-45 loss. 
Three players did all of the scoring for Mason City, as junior Jada Williams led the way with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting, with four 3-pointers. Freshman Reggi Spotts had 16 points, and also contributed four 3-pointers, while fellow freshman Grace Berding had the rest of Mason City's 10 points.

Weekend roundup: Mason City girls fall just short against Cedar Falls


Going into Saturday's game between Mason City and No. 5 Cedar Falls, it would've been easy to dismiss the Mohawks' chances. Going up against the Tigers, ranked No. 5 in Class 5A, the winless Mohawks didn't seem to have much of a chance. 
But thanks to some big offensive performances, Mason City nearly pulled off one of the year's most stunning upsets. In the end Cedar Falls won, 71-69, but the Mohawks walked away with their heads held high. 
Junior Jada Williams scored 24 points on Saturday, with 10 rebounds. It was the second time in two days that Williams had double-digit points and rebounds, after she put up a triple double on Friday against Ames.
