The NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku presented the proposals to the Senate Committee chaired by Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong.
Indeed, the present understanding and pragmatic alliance by Barrister Chiedu Ebie led NDDC governing board and management, the Senate and House of Representatives Committees, for Niger Delta region development is not only commendable but timely. And if sustained, it will definitely usher in something new and different to the region and its people.
He stated that the current board and management of the commission had changed the story of the region, following its numerous development projects and programmes.
The feeling of resentment against the Igbo man by his Niger Delta brothers and neighbors is real and deep. But if examined dispassionately, you will discover that these false conscious and misguided activists are victims of ethnic and evil regimentation and prejudice; who carry on based on the stories they were told and who have not taken time to interrogate some of the things they have heard.
Understandably, there is some truth in those concerns as expressed just as there is presently, a silver lining in the horizon. What we have today is an exact opposite! Niger Deltans of goodwill are equally of the views that what the region is experiencing this time around may no longer be the second half of a recurring circle, rather the beginning of something new and different.
