Red Lake Fire 4 is being held after quick and efficient work from regional fire crews.
The grass fire started just south of Balmertown near Balmer Creek on Tuesday morning and is reported, as of Wednesday morning, as being held at 15.5 hectares.  Two FireRanger crews, one CL-415 waterbomber and one birddog aircraft assisted the Red Lake Fire Department with this fire.
No action required! The Municipality is aware that a fire of [approximately 6 hectares] in size is burning adjacent to Balmertown and Evolution. The MNRF Fire crews along with Red Lake Fire Rescue Fire Department are working diligently on suppressing this fire. We have been assured by MNRF that this fire is not a threat to the Balmertown Townsite and that the fire will be contained very soon, quoted the Municipality of Red Lake Facebook page on Tuesday.  ....

The province s Aviation, Forest Fires and Emergency Services (AFFES) agency said Thunder Bay 4 is located near Sovereign Road. It s listed as not under control, and is 0.8 hectares in size. ....

Two forest fires were burning in the northwest as of Wednesday morning, the province s Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) agency said.
Both fires are in the Red Lake area.
Red Lake 4 was started at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, and is being held near Balmer Creek, which is located near Balmertown. ....

MNRF warns of drying trend in Northwest, as 3 fires burn


DRYDEN, Ont. – Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is warning of areas of high fire hazard in the Northwest, with three forest fires burning in the region on Sunday.
The MNRF said a drying trend was leading to areas of high fire hazard in its Kenora and Fort Frances sectors, with hazard moderate throughout most of the Dryden, Red Lake, and Sioux Lookout sectors.
Further east, areas like Thunder Bay and Nipigon saw mainly low fire hazard.
The largest fire reported in Northwestern Ontario, known as Red Lake 2, is located about 36 kilometres north of the town of Red Lake, near Little Vermilion Lake. ....
