He was charged $6,500 for illegally shooting at a decoy moose on Black Sturgeon Road northwest of Nipigon. Javid Laghai Bonabi of Waterloo was convicted on several charges related to the incident. He was fined $4,500 for careless use of a firearm for the purpose of hunting, $1,500 for hunting at night, and $500 for having a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Bonabi also received a six-month hunting licence suspension and is required to retake the Ontario hunter education program and pass the test before being eligible to buy another hunting licence. ....

Ontario Provincial Police announced the closure around 1:30 p.m. following an accident near the intersection of Highway 11 and Macdiarmid Road. The location is just kilometres from Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek, or Rocky Bay First Nation, and about 20 kilometres south of Beardmore. ....

155 Thunder Bay – Amanda Pacholczak, a Grade 12 student at St. Ignatius High School Thunder Bay was awarded the $500 top prize in the Rotary 4-Way Test Essay Contest. She applied the principles of the 4-Way Test in her essay titled “Vacationing Abroad: Ethical or Not”. In addition to this top award, Pacholczak’s essay will be entered in the Rotary District 5580 Essay Competition for an opportunity to win another $1,100 USD. In addition to Amanda Pacholczak’s first place prize, Veronica Pacholczak was awarded a $200 prize for second place, and Spencer Lenardon was awarded a $100 prize for third place. All three prize winners are Grade 12 students at St. Ignatius High School. ....
