Education Min Nishank in AIIMS for post Covid complication


New Delhi:  June 1:  Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was admitted to AIIMS on Tuesday for post Covid complications. His condition is stable, aides said.
The 61-year-old minister was rushed to the hospital following complains of low level of oxygen. Nishank had tested positive for the virus in April this year.
AIIMS sources said there was nothing serious and treatment has started.
This development comes ahead of a scheduled meeting for CBSE Board exams for Class 12. (IANS)

No examination without vaccination, says Akhilesh Yadav | India News


LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party said on Tuesday that students should be inoculated against the coronavirus before board exams are conducted, with its president Akhilesh Yadav asserting "no examination without vaccination".
As the government is in the process of taking a decision on the Class 12 board exams and subsequent entrance tests that were postponed due to the second wave of Covid-19, a demand has been made from some quarters that if the exams are to be held, the students be vaccinated first.
"Pahle tika, fir pariksha (first vaccination, then examination). No Examination Without Vaccination," Yadav tweeted.
Demanding vaccination of students, Samajwadi Party MLC Udaiveer Singh said, "The central government should not play with lives of students."

Decision on Class 12 board exams to be taken at the earliest: Minister | India News


NEW DELHI: A high-level meet could not arrive at a decision on the pending Class 12 board exams on Sunday, with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank seeking detailed suggestions from state governments by May 25 and asserting that "an informed, collaborative" final call will be taken at the earliest.
The virtual meeting was convened to decide on the Class 12 board exams and subsequent entrance examinations that were postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19.
After the deliberations, Nishank said, "The meeting was extremely fruitful as we received immensely valuable suggestions. I have requested the state governments to send me their detailed suggestions by May 25. I am confident we will be able to arrive at an informed, collaborative decision regarding the exams and remove the uncertainty among student's and parent's minds by informing them of our final decision at the earliest."

UGC-NET postponed in view of Covid-19 situation: Union education minister | India News

NEW DELHI: The UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) scheduled to be held from May 2 to 17 has been postponed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced on Tuesday.
According to an order by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the revised dates for the exam will be announced later, at least 15 days before the examination.
"Keeping in mind the safety and wellbeing of candidates and exam functionaries during Covid-19 outbreak, I have advised @DG_NTA to postpone the UGC-NET Dec 2020 cycle (May 2021) exams," Nishank tweeted.
"Looking at the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and also taking into account the safety and well being of the candidates and examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone the UGC-NET exam," the order by the NTA stated.
