Stout Sets Scoring Record in Demon Win Over Panthers

Birthdays. A time for cake, presents, and hat tricks? Zac Stout celebrated his 19th birthday in style last night with a three-goal performance that pushed the Washington boys’ soccer team past Burlington 5-1 in the Demons’ home opener.  The newbies to the Southeast Conference in the Grayhounds found the back of the net first in the opening half, but with 10 minutes until break Stout scored his first to tie it up. The theme of nail biting playoff games this week in Southeast Iowa continued on Thursday with the Washington boys’ basketball team suffering a crushing 49-48 season ending loss to Grinnell in a class 3A substate semifinal.
